Special Wine Auction Tasting. 09/2011

Since 1998, the November wine auctions have been the occasion for the Maison Bouchard Aîné & Fils to offer an exceptional tasting in the sumptuous setting of the Hôtel du Conseiller du Roy in Beaune. Old vintages, wine from the barrel, red, white and sparkling; all the variations of Burgundy brought together in one place for the duration of a weekend.


Staying true to its pioneering spirit since 1750, more than 250 years later the maison is adding a sensorial dimension to its prestige tastings with enticing wine and food combinations. Harmonious or clashing flavors and textures, but always emotion and the pleasure of tasting ? this is the promise extended to guests during the Hospices de Beaune wine auctions.

The winemaker at Bouchard Aîné & Fils has put together this event based on combinations that are sometimes unexpected but always delightful. The choices are guided more by feeling than intellect, in keeping with the spirit of the tasting experience ?Parcours des 5 Sens ®?*.

Burgundy cheeses were centre-stage for the first such tasting, followed by cheeses from elsewhere. In 2009, it was the turn of chocolate, giving some luxuriant and provocative marriages between sensuality and passion. In 2010 came the bold combinations of shellfish and seafood, a briny plunge into some combinations that shattered received ideas, thanks to the variety of Burgundy appellations which offer infinite sensorial possibilities.

This year, pride of place goes to the seasonal delights offered from the region?s forests that were once so appreciated by the Dukes of Burgundy. Allow yourself to be charmed by the theme ?Wines, Autumn Flavors and Game?.
Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 November from 10am to 6pm.
