Visual: An elegant ruby red.
Nose: Raspberry, strawberry, violet and woodland undergrowth.
Palate: Fine mellow tannins, low in acidity with a marked meaty quality. Chambolle-Musigny wines are noted for their wonderful elegance and subtlety.
Food and wine pairing
Chambolle-Musigny wines call for fine, delicate dishes with subtle flavours (filet mignon, roast pigeon, roast guinea fowl in a red wine sauce, fillet steak with shallots, mushrooms and tomatoes, duck with truffles, roast saddle of hare..) and ripe cheeses such as Reblochon.
The appellation area covers 155 hectares, of which 61 hectares are classified as Premier Cru.
Vinification and maturing
Vinification in wooden vats followed by maturing in barrels for 14 to 16 months, 20% new oak.
