Origins
Known the whole world over, Nuits-Saint-Georges has the original profile of a genuine wine village, but on the scale of a small town. Half way between Dijon and Beaune, and with an eastern exposure, the vines of Nuits-Saint-Georges extend for 6 kilometres and cover 160 hectares of the village appellation.
The local variation in soils, exposure and location produce a great diversity of terroir. The area as a whole is bisected by the little Meuzin river and its valley, and by the village itself.
Vinification and maturing
The wine was aged on its lees for 13 months in oak barrels to soften its tannins and make its fruitiness stand out. For this wine, we chose to use only 25% of new oak barrels in order to get just the perfect amount of toastiness that will improve its powerfull aromas without flavour it too much. We also chose barrels from French oaks which where toasted for a long time at low temperatures to have a discreet woody touch
Vintage : 2014
The harvest began in mid-September, in the sunshine and in good humor. The grapes brought into the wineries were ripe, healthy and aromatic, and promising wonderful cuvées…Wines from the Côte de Nuits are full-bodied and well balanced, guarantee of a good ageing potential.
