Origins
On the lower slopes, ancient alluvial deposits, then in the middle of the hillsides, the clay-limestone soils are well drained thanks to a pebbly deposit of rock debris. Further up, we find Oxfordian marl (Jurassic), brown calcareous and brown calcareous soils. Iron oxide sometimes reddens the soil.
Facing east and south. Altitude: between 250 and 330 metres.
This wine comes from organic vineyards.
Vinification and maturing
Vinification in oak vats followed by maturing in barrels for 11months, 30% new oak.
Vintage : 2011
The year experienced unusual weather patterns which led to a very early harvest. In fact, the unpredictable conditions were sometimes quite extreme : a superb dry Springtime, a rainy Summer followed by a beautiful Autumn - which led to this crucial early harvest date. Red 2011 Burgundies are generally very elegant wines, quite silky with great finesse with aroma and taste.
