Tasting notes

Colour: Clear and shiny goldfish yellow, with green hints.

Nose: Fresh and complex with flavours of white flowers and dried fruits with subtle notes of acacia.

Palate: Medium-body, rich and balanced wine with a slightly spicy finish.

Food and wine pairing

Enjoy it as an aperitif, with starters, but also with snails, frogs' legs, andouillettes, seafood, quiches, grilled fish and goat's cheese.

Serving suggestions

Serve ideally at a temperature of around 10-12°C. (50-54°F.).

Ageing potential

This lovely wine is best enjoyed in its early years, but will keep for up to 6 years in the cellar.

Origins

A regional appellation from the Mâconnais in southern Burgundy, harvested in the commune of Lugny. The name ‘Villages’ or the name of the commune of origin, such as Lugny, may only be added to that of Mâcon for wines harvested within the delimited area of the Mâcon-Villages appellation in the 26 identified commune groupings.

The terroir of the Mâconnais differs markedly from that of the more northerly regions of Burgundy. Here, the soil is clay, silica or granite.

It is thanks to these differences in terroir that the wines made from Chardonnay harvested in this region have a fresh, mineral character that will delight those who like to alternate with the honeyed, warmer aromas of the white wines of the Côte d'Or, further north than the Mâconnais.

Vinification and maturing

The grapes are pressed gently and slowly in pneumatic presses, then the must is settled at a low temperature. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats to preserve the freshness and natural fruitiness of the grapes. The wine undergoes alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation and ageing for 6 to 8 months on fine lees in stainless steel vats.

Vintage : 2023

The ideal weather conditions in Burgundy in 2023, characterised by a favourable spring, a hot summer with cool nights, moderate rainfall and an early autumn harvest, played a key role in the high yields and exceptional quality of the grapes at harvest time.

The white wines are distinguished by their elegance, complexity and liveliness. Subtle aromas of white fruit, citrus and floral notes add to their remarkable freshness.

The red wines are powerful and well-balanced, with aromas of red and black fruit, as well as spicy and mineral nuances. The silky tannins add an elegant structure, promising harmonious ageing.

In short, these are expressive, fruity wines with very fine aromatic profiles.
