Origins
Along with Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet, the village forms what is known as "The Golden Triangle", reputed to produce the finest white wines in existence. Here, Chardonnay finds a perfect terroir, gently sloping and ideally exposed to the east or south, composed of limestone and marl.
Around 30% of the appellation's surface area is classified as 1er Cru, made up of 19 different climats.
Vinification and maturing
Vintage : 2024
The yields were strongly impacted, with decreases going up to 70% in certain areas. The Côte Chalonnaise resisted better, recording more limited losses. Globally, the volumes are well below the usual average, which recalls the difficult harvests of 2021.
The harvest, late, required a rigorous sorting to preserve the quality. Despite the challenges, the harvested grapes reached a beautiful maturity thanks to a sunny period in September. The reds distinguish themselves by their richness and their concentration, comparable to great vintages like 2010. The whites, elegant, recall those of 2022.
The first tastings reveal promising wines, with concentrated aromas and a beautiful structure. This vintage, although quantitatively limited, promises to be a qualitative success.
