Tasting notes
Bouquet: The bouquet is very elegant offering aromas of white flowers and mineral notes, delicately woody.
Palate: On the palate, this is a lively and fresh wine with nice structure and delicate flavors: fruity (citrus), flowery (acacia) and mineral notes. A very racy wine, refined, well balanced and rich with a very long persistancy.
Food and wine pairing
This elegant white Burgundy will be delicious on its own, as an aperitif, but also with grilled salmon, crustaceans and white poultry.
Serving suggestions
Serve at a temperature of around 14°C. (57°F).
Ageing potential
Origins
The production consists of almost 85% red wine, and a little over 15% of white wine. There are just Premier Cru vineyards within the Santenay AOC.
The higher ground is grayish limestone while the slopes lower down are composed of marl and calcareous rock from the middle Jurassic.
Vinification and maturing
Vintage : 2014
In spring, the vintage promises to be early. The warm and dry climatic conditions benefit the vine. They give hope for an abundant harvest and preserve the vine from a sanitary point of view. However, the harvest potential is affected by some phenomena of shatter (non-transformation of flowers into fruits).
During the summer, Burgundy is hit by a violent hailstorm with sometimes considerable damage. In Nuits-Saint-Georges more particularly, a hail episode on June 28 will come to reduce the harvest on certain plots.
The absence of sun caused the loss of the lead acquired at the beginning of the cycle. However, despite wet and cool weather, maturation starts at a good pace at the end of August. The sun, accompanied by the North wind, returns from the first days of September. These are ideal conditions for an optimal maturation of the grapes and the maintenance of a beautiful sanitary state. Burgundy, like other vineyards, experienced some pockets of sour rot but this punctual and localized phenomenon remains an exception in a globally very healthy year.
In mid-September, the harvest begins under the sun and in good spirits. The ripe, healthy and aromatic grapes reach the cellars and promise wonderful cuvées.
