Origins
Listed as "Grand Cru" from the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy, this appellation is located in the small but famous village of Gevrey Chambertin.
The vineyard is located below another "Grand Cru", Chambertin, on the southernmost part of the Gevrey Chambertin appellation.
"Grand Cru’" is the highest distinction for Burgundy appellations. "Grands Cru" wines originate from the best vineyards in each area and represent just 1% of the total production of Burgundy wines.
Gevrey Chambertin counts nine ‘Grand Cru’ appellation areas. Charmes-Chambertin is widely considered to be one of the best of these and is also the largest, covering some 31 hectares.
Vinification and maturing
Maceration lasts around 3 weeks with more or less frequent cap trading “by foot”.
The wine is matured for 15 months in casks (20% new wood).
Vintage : 2023
The white wines are distinguished by their elegance, complexity and liveliness. Subtle aromas of white fruit, citrus and floral notes add to their remarkable freshness.
The red wines are powerful and well-balanced, with aromas of red and black fruit, as well as spicy and mineral nuances. The silky tannins add an elegant structure, promising harmonious ageing.
In short, these are expressive, fruity wines with very fine aromatic profiles.
